Why Use Us
What Makes Pool Surfaces Different: Technology
Density and Water Repellency
Pool Surfaces’ product Silicone Shield, patented in 1995, provides density and water repellency to our plaster and technically differentiates The Blue Terra plaster brand from others. The binding component in all pool plasters is Portland cement, which is a mixture of calcium based clay and rock is a by product of earth and naturally vulnerable to water’s erosion and corrosion. Pool Surfaces’ integral silicone admix is the key to the sustainability of Portland cement in an underwater surface.
Inert Components
Pool plaster mix design requires a knowledgeable specialized chemist versed in cement, colorants, and aggregates, and coatings chemistry. Raw material sensitivity to acid and chlorine, along with long term insolubility mandates limitations in product design. Unfortunately most pool plaster manufacturer’s aside from our company knowingly utilize raw materials that fail. The most blatant example is the widespread use of organic, non chlorine resistant Thalo Blue colorants, based solely on the higher cost of using sustainable inorganic Cobalt Blue colorants. Pool Surface’s philosophical disciplines of using inert, non reactive components insures sustainable lower maintenance pool plaster finishes.
